Swype Beta 3.25 available

The latest version of Swype that was originally only available to Nexus S 4G owners, is now available to everyone signed up  for the beta. Which appears to be open at the moment.  This update brings a number of features and fixes.


Swype Gestures - With this version, we've introduced several new gestures for quickly doing some of the most common tasks involving text. You've always been able to use some basic, core Swype gestures, like punctuation words, and jumping quickly to the editing layer. We've added 2 new categories of gestures with this version: Editing gestures and application gestures. Check out our video introduction to gestures while you read the specifics...

• Quick Editing - Access cut, copy, paste, and select-all functions in a flash!
• Send-to-Application - Highlight any text, anywhere, then send it directly to an application with a quick gesture. Currently supported apps are Twitter, Google Maps, and Facebook

Personal Dictionary Management - Take control of Swype's personal dictionary with the new Personal Dictionary option in Swype Settings. Long-press the Swype key, then tap Options and you'll see 2 new entries. If you tap "Personal Dictionary" you'll be able to view, add, remove, and edit words in your custom dictionary. Press the "plus" button to add, "minus" button to remove, and tap any entry in the list to edit. You can also choose "Reset Personal Dictionary" to empty all words from your Swype user dictionary.

Swype Connect - Prior to this release, licensing and device information polling was done entirely through our installation program (SwypeInstaller). This proved both unreliable and tedious for the user. It also left us unable to gather important measurement statistics that could help us improve Swype by learning about how our users are actually interacting with the keyboard day to day. This initial version of Swype Connect features two main components, and lays the groundwork for more innovative, experience-enhancing features in the future.


Bug Fixes & Usability Updates - As always, this version of Swype includes numerous improvements over previous versions. You can find a full changelog directly below, but here's a quick list of some of the major fixes/updates:

• Single-tapping a word no longer repositions the cursor to the end of the word
• Words added to the dictionary will now retain their capitalization (e.g. Cyanogen instead of cyanogen)
• Fixed a bug that prevented Swype from reading the screen resolution properly on devices running Android 3.2
• Fixed a bug where dictionaries would sometimes fail to load after a device reboot
• Lots of application-specific improvements and fixes!

Swype for Android Beta Registration Open Again. Software updated.

By now most Android users are fully aware of the amazingly useful and easy to use Keyboard replacement app; Swype.  If you're new to the app or haven't heard of it check out our Swype for Android post for a video demo and links to swype tips and tricks. There is isn't much info on how long the beta will remain open. So if you've been using an unofficial APK and want to get in on the real deal. Now is the chance. And if you're new to android and looking for something different than the stock keyboard give Swype a try. I love it.

Tweetdeck Beta v0.9.8 is available.

Just some quick application update news.

Tweetdeck has released the latest version of their beta application for android.
This update includes 3 different widgets; column, quick launch bar and quick post. As well as an all new column interface and several fixes and improvements as you would expect.  You can find the latest beta update at the link below.

Angry Birds Beta is Live on the android market.:Updated

The long awaited angry birds beta  from Rovio, is live on the android market.  As the game says upon loading this is an unfinished version of the game. But having played for a few minutes already it's pretty smooth and lots of fun.   Click to download from market.

It looks like HTC Evo and Droid Incredible users are experiencing a number of crashes and force closes. Tweetdeck Beta for Android finally here....well almost.

A lot of twitter fiends have been waiting for this one, including me! Tweetdeck has been one of most popular twitter desktop clients since it's launch.  And as we've mentioned since as far back as early last year; android users have been requesting a mobile counterpart.

Earlier an unofficial build of the Tweetdeck beta was leaked online.  And tweetdeck was quick to make a statement via twitter and notify the masses thar the build was indeed not the official beta. They also advised users to avoid it, saying the official beta will be released tomorrow.

This very very short clip shows a user signing into multiple accounts via the Tweetdeck app.

Swype updates keyboard and opens beta for a short time.

A lot of users myself included have been dying to get swype on their devices. And having missed out on the beta, i was however lucky enough to end up with a hacked version of the beta a while back. And of course I fell in love with swype just in time for the app to expire on my device.   Today Swype has opened it's beta for a limited time. This coincides with an update to the keyboard.    You can jump on board and try sign up for the beta now if you haven't already. If you're unfamiliar with swype check out our brief post on Swype for Android. 

The site seems a bit bogged down at the moment. I'm sure there are lots of fellow android users flocking to the site. It took me multiple tries but i was able to get the form to submit. And my email from swype is waiting in my inbox as we speak. Join the beta, try it out and come back and tell us what you think of Swype.

Sign up for Flash and Adobe Air Betas for Android!!

The release of Adobe 2.0 and Flash 10.1 are still a ways off in the future. Supposedly the 2nd half of this year. But you can sign up now for betas of each.

There are two sign up pages; one for Flash 10.1 and one for Adobe AIR 2.0.

You'll need to sign up for an Adobe membership which you can do during the signup process to join the beta. So the entire process only takes a few minutes. There is no further information on release dates, hardware requirements or how the beta will work. Users will recieve information from Adobe in the future.
